Biography of June
Biography June and bandmembers.
June was founded in 2000, just after the split-up of the popular band Adultery, who delivered in 2000 her final cd (Last Wedge). With the departure of the former bassplayer and arrival of the new one, Martijn Willemsen, everything seemed to fall in place. The band choose a different direction than Adultery which made them even more popular.
In 2002 they recorded and released their first single with a double A-side: Thank You and Everywhere I Turn. In 2006, 2007 and 2008 they recorded three christmas cd's. On all the albums Saskia Laroo (international female jazz trumpetplayer), www.saskialaroo.nl, participated. On the last christmasalbum also Judith jobse (www.judithjobse.nl) and Mark Lennon (of the band Venice), www.markylennon.com, joined the band for one song.
In november 2008 June released a new single, featuring three of their own songs. It is called "Turn Off The Lights" and is a duet with Judith Jobse. Other songs on the single are So Fast and Sundaymorning. For Youtube-clip or downloads, check our pages Media and Webshop.
In may 2009, June released their next cd, called Staring At The Sun. They have had the participation of a new guitarist, Michael Hoogervorst. June is very happy with Michael, who is a guitarist who adds a new face and sound to the band.
At this moment the band is (re)writing (new) material for a new forthcoming CD, which is planned for recording in 2010.
